Update: Streets: A Rock Opera - Narrated version I finally purchased this alternative version of my all-time favorite album, which includes narration between all tracks, as originally recorded by Jon Oliva as well as the original version of Jesus Saves. Turns out the narration fits perfectly with the music and idea of the album.

Overview. This album was a true turning point for the band, for after Jon Oliva watched Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Phantom of the Opera in Toronto, he decided to change the sound of the band, from a heavy metal to a more progressive sound, which is reflected in songs such as "When the Crowds Are Gone" and "Gutter Ballet". Gutter Ballet is not a concept album, but the final three songs.

I've been a Savatage fan for going on 30 years. Streets has always been my favorite album and is still the best Rock Opera out there in my humble opinion. This version of the disc boasts brief narratives between most of the tracks from the same "I'm not a bum" character heard on the main Streets album before Jesus Saves (voiced by Jon Oliva)/5(51).
